The Wyoming Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) are raising money for a missions trip to Haiti and their last big fundraiser is a Football Fun Day for Haiti with the Wyoming Cowboys for kids in eighth grade and under.

The 3rd annual Whale of a Children's Sale is coming up in May to benefit the Wyoming Children’s Society, Wyomings oldest adoption agency, established in 1911. This big fundraiser for the organization actually takes place in Cheyenne with a big sale on on May 5th from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church. However a local Laramie resident, Robin Despain, will be collecting donations throughout Laramie and delivering them to Cheyenne to try and boost the number of donations they receive for the sale.

Yesterday in the spirit of Valentine's Day, Wyoming State Bank held their first annual "Giving from the Heart" event which awarded grants to over 60 different local organizations in the community. There were around 160 applications for funding and the bank was proud to award over30% of the requests that they received. Grants were given anywhere in the range of $40 to $42,000.

I heard from a friend that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Laramie was holding a cardboard sled derby up at the Happy Jack sledding hill, and I had to check it out and share this neat event with everyone. Best of all it is open to the public, so grab a group of friends or take your kids up to participate for an fun filled day outside. I have seen this done at some of the bigger ski resorts before, but I had no idea there was anything like it around Laramie.
