Watch Wyoming Spring Migration [VIDEO]
Wyoming spring has arrived, grass is turning green, and migration has begun back to the summer feeding grounds.
This is a busy time for the Wyoming Migration Initiative who track elk, deer, moose and other animals.
The Red Desert of Wyoming is most interesting to researchers who found massive herds moving 150 miles to northwest Wyoming. To do this they have to cross 3 highways, 100 fences, and multiple rivers.
This video shows the awe-inspiring sight of a herd of elk moving down a mountainside. What is captured here is happening in Wyoming right now, but usually in places where humans are not around to see it.
Some of these animals have been captured, weighted, tagged, and even fitted with transmitters to better track and understand what is going on. This information will be used to help manage and preserve the species.
