Board of Trustees Meeting in Laramie
The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is meeting Wednesday through Friday to discuss items such as tuition, construction projects, and budget issues.
All meetings–except for executive sessions–are open to the public.
A working dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the UW Conference Center will mark the beginning of the meeting. At the dinner, the Board will review construction progress on the High Bay Research Facility and the exterior design of the planned Engineering Education and Research Building.
Thursday starts with a working breakfast at 7:30 at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. The day will include public testimony at 11 a.m. and a tuition discussion at 2:30 p.m.
The Board of Trustees adopted a policy last year that calls for implementing annual tuition increases of four percent each year. The policy is designed to meet cost increases while also giving students an idea of what to expect. Roughly $2 million would be generated from a 4 percent increase each year.
The policy requires the UW administration to provide annual updates on the cost of attendance, as well as a comparison of how UW’s tuition and fees stacks up with other institutions. The policy only serves as a guide for administration officials as they prepare recommendations for the trustees; the board retains control over tuition rates and “the distribution of revenue generated from modifications to tuition,” under the policy.
Trustees will take formal action on agenda items at the business meeting scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Friday.
