Bike Lane Passing-Ask the City
Question:
I recently moved to Laramie and have a question about the bike/parking lanes. I see many drivers use what I would call a parking lane as a turn lane. For example, I often drive north on 22nd and Reynolds. I stay in the center lane, but cars often pass on the right side using the bike lane. When there is a solid white line/bike lane/parking lane, which lane should I be in to turn right?
Answer:
"It is legal to pass on the right when there is sufficient room on the road to do so, and most importantly, when the movement can be made safely. If you see driving actions that are dangerous, please note the description of the vehicle and report the incident to non-emergency dispatch by calling 307-721-2526."
Ask the City Of Laramie is your chance to send the city that burning question that you have always wondered about such as: “Where can I get a city parking permit?” or “Why did my water usage rates go through the roof?”
Please note that the City of Laramie will answer as many questions as possible at their discretion.
