Ask The City – What’s the Best Way to Dispose of Grass & Leaves?

As we have our yards raked after the winter, will the city pick up bagged leaves/garbage/trash which will not fit in our garbage bins? Or do we just put one bag in the bin each weekday that we have garbage pickup?

The City's Response:

Streets will not be doing a spring leaf pickup. Our recommendation would be that the citizens take the yard waste to one of the various locations where solid waste has dumpsters positioned. Because the material is bagged, solid waste would most likely put the material in the landfill and not compost it if it was collected from a polycart. Putting it in the green waste containers keeps it out of the landfill. Information regarding the green waste locations can be viewed on the city's website.
