Ask The City – How Much Am I Being Charged for Recycling?

What is the monthly charge for recycling? I have looked at fees and nothing that I found is what I am getting charged.

The City's Answer:

The monthly fee for recycling implemented in the September billing is $4.30 per receptacle.  Previous to the September bill the monthly fee for Garbage Collection was $10.48 per month per receptacle.  In September, the Garbage Collection fee reduced from $10.48 to $8.11 for a savings of $2.37 per month per receptacle, the fee of $4.30 was added for recycling to net an overall increase of $1.93 per month between the Garbage Collection and Recycling fees.

The recycling program is anticipated to divert waste from the collection stream, thus the reduction in the billing for Garbage Collection.
