The Jacque Laramie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Laramie Valley Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol have joined together to raise funds for Wreaths Across America locally.

The groups are hosting a Wreaths Across American Chili Cook-off fundraiser Friday, Nov. 2 from 5-to-7 p.m. at the Laramie VFW Post 2221. It is located at 2142 E Garfield St. Tickets are $5 for tasting and $5 for a bowl. The dinner also features a raffle.

This is the second fundraiser this fall that is going towards buying wreaths to be placed at veteran graves in Greenhill Cemetery this holiday season.

Katie Morgan is with the Laramie Chapter of the DAR. She joined host David Settle this past Monday during the “Laramie Live on KOWB” radio morning show to discuss what’s going on. She talked about the fundraiser, the Wreaths Across America group background, how the local DAR and Civil Air Patrol got involved, and what’ happening this year.

For more information, you can visit wreathsacrossamerica.org or for the local efforts, email waa-dar@charter.net. You can donate online and even volunteer to help out. The local ceremony will be December 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. There are nearly 1700 veteran grave sites in Greenhill Cemetery.
