The Crowbar and Grill Bringing High End Food and Beer to Laramie
Local food and craft beer are the foundation Andy Glines will be building The Crowbar and Grill on. Renovations are well underway at 202 S. 2nd St. as Glines and business partner Justin Turner hope to be serving patrons in downtown Laramie in February.
After working at Big Hollow Food Coop and developing relationships with those suppliers, Glines saw the need for a restaurant in town that kept the focus on fresh and local ingredients. A gastropub became the best way to show the commitment to both high end beer and quality food.
My whole vision is that the point of using something that's right there, is you're saving money. My vision is to have good food that means you don't have to spend 20 bucks on a burger.
-Owner Andy Glines
A typical plate will be $10-$12 dollars and they hope to offer 15 beers on tap. Glines is talking to distributors about bringing in options that are not currently available in Laramie.
A pre-application proposal has been made for a retail liquor license and Glines says he is waiting on a decision by the Laramie City Council. There are also three bar and grill liquor licenses available in Laramie, but that comes with restrictions on how much revenue can be made from alcohol, so the preference is to obtain a retail liquor license if at all possible.
The Crowbar and Grill has moved into the space that used to be occupied by Big Hoss Mountain Sports. The floor is being redone and once they get the building permit, the front windows will be demolished and rebuilt to allow for a cleaner entrance and some seating in the front. Beetle killed lodge poles were brought down from Sheep Mountain by Turner to be used in the construction of the bar and more changes and additions are occurring every day. There are photos of the renovations on The Crowbar and Grill's Facebook page.
Anyone heading to the Mainstreet Alliance holiday open house from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday will get a special preview of The Crowbar and Grill, which prepared Green Curry Chili for the event.
