The Laramie Police Department along with the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) will be holding another prescription drug take back day on Saturday October 29th at the Express Pharmacy on Grand Avenue.

The time has come to once again clean up that cluttered medicine cabinet of yours and get rid of all the old and out dated prescription drugs. The Laramie Police Department will hold a prescription drug take back day on the 29th beginning at 10am and will conclude at 2pm. The LPD encourages those who may have expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs to bring them to the Express Pharmacy at 4005 Grand.

The second  USDEA National Drug Take Back Day held in April turned in more than 376, 593lbs of  unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs. Across the nation there were 5,361 sites that participated in the National Drug Take Back Day last April.

According to the Laramie Police Department, the initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. The LPD also stated that studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. It is advised that one should not dispose of unused or old prescription drugs by throwing them in the trash or flushing them down the toilet as that could cause potential health hazards.
