City of Laramie Sets Final Movie in the Park
The City of Laramie has worked with First Interstate Bank to present a summer film festival this summer to celebrate Laramie's 150th anniversary. This month's film, The Apple Dumpling Gang, will be shown at Kiwanis Park, near the shelter on the soccer field.
The event will kick off at 7 p.m. on August 21 with the Laramie GM Movie Trivia challenge. As with the other showings, the Friends of the Community Recreation Foundation will be handing out free popcorn at the event. In addition to the trivia competition, there will also be music, art, and other contests before the movie starts at sundown. Attendees are encouraged to dress for cool weather and to bring their own blankets and seats.
Of this year's series, Laramie Parks and Recreation Director Todd Feezer says that he is "happy with the attendance this year" and that "the movie series has been a great adventure". He added that "It's been great getting people to visit different parks". The first movie, which was shown in June at Washington Park, had about 70 attendees, while the second film at Undine Park had an estimated crowd of 130. Feezer expressed hope to get 200 attendees at the final film series.
The city plans to continue the film series next summer.
