UW Idol Semi-Finals

Last night the semi-finals of UW Idol were held in the Arts & Sciences Auditorium on the University of Wyoming campus. If you are not familiar with UW Idol, it is simply a local version of the hit TV show American Idol. As with American Idol, acts range from being widely hysterical to amazing performances that will shock you. 15 singers took the stage for their shot at taking home the $1,000 prize last night, and they did not disappoint. Performers & their song selections were as follows:

• Bart Ulbrich - A Change is Gonna Come
• Helen Chanthongthip - Chain of Fools
• Sean Roy Sterling - Gig Yellow Taxi
• Johanna Swisher - Before He Cheats
• Danielle Law - Let It Be
• Alison Rickard - Undo It
• Corey Winfield - Let Me Fall
• Rachael Schmidt - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
• Megan Shively - I Never Told You
• Tyler Choal - The Shake
• Levi Robinson - Ocean Avenue
• Rachael Dowd - I Dreamed A Dream
• Michael Russell - What I Got

Standout performances came from both Helen Chanthongthip singing "Chain of Fools" and Rachel Dowd singing "I Dreamed A Dream." In the end the judges eliminated 10 performers, leaving only 5 finalists remaining.   If you have never been to UW Idol before, that is put on by Friday Night Fever, you should give it a shot. Next Friday night, February 11th, the finalists face off at 9PM in the A&S Auditorium. One performer will be named this year's UW Idol. It's great entertainment for every age and you will be amazed by the talent.
