The United Way of Albany County has recently hired Evelyn Edson as Executive Director to replace Paul Heimer, who is retiring the end of May.

Evelyn has been the Executive Director of Family Promise of Albany County since 2018. Although candidates from around the country applied for this position, the four finalists were all local candidates.

Bob Leonard, the head of the hiring committee, said of Evelyn,

“Ms. Edson is exceptionally qualified to fill the position of Executive Director of UWAC. She has the well-rounded non-profit experiences of organizational management, budgeting, grant writing, marketing, and community-wide collaboration that our Board was seeking in a replacement for Mr. Heimer. We are fortunate to have found a person of Ms. Edson’s qualifications to lead the organization into the future."

Evelyn said she is “excited to join the United Way of Albany County as Executive Director.”

A parent of two children, Evelyn loves living in Albany County and volunteering for local initiatives. Evelyn looks forward to getting to work and continuing to learn about the needs of the community in her new Executive Director role.
