Blake Mycoskie, founder and chief shoe giver of TOMS Shoes, made a sudden contribution to Wyoming on Thursday. Mycoskie "flash funded" all of the DonorsChoose.org classroom projects in Wyoming as part of #BestSchoolDay.

Mycoskie funded 17 school projects in Big Horn, Burlington, Casper, Cheyenne, Fort Washakie, Gillette, Lander, Thermopolis and Wheatland.

About 60 athletes, business leaders and celebrities joined together on #BestSchoolDay to form a philanthropic flash mob, giving over $14 million to fund 12,000 teacher requests for books, science supplies, field trips and other scholastic projects.

Now, the flash mob is challenging the public to join them by donating to classroom projects on DonorsChoose.org.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin and WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton together pledged $3.2 million to match donations on DonorsChoose.org as of Thursday.

"Teachers have a hard time providing these experiences when they have to go into their own pockets to buy school supplies," says DonorsChoose.org Founder and CEO Charles Best. "We're so grateful to the people who have kicked off this philanthropic flashmob, and we hope that everyone -- no matter the size of their wallet -- will join this act of mass generosity by supporting a classroom project and committing to make every day a #BestSchoolDay."
