It’s an old adage, but applicable to the City of Laramie Parks and Recreation services and programs set for this summer: There is something for everyone.
The department hopes to hear more public feedback on landscaping enhancement concepts for the project at Thursday's open house, set for 6-7 p.m. at Linford Elementary, 120 S. Jefferson St.
The Garfield Street Footbridge will be closed to the public on weekdays for construction and painting services from Monday, September 24th to December 1st. The footbridge will be closed Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 am to 6:00 pm while work is conducted.
The Annual Dog Day in the Park is set for Sunday, August 26th in Washington Park from noon to 4 p.m. Laramie Parks & Recreation will have all sorts of fun, free activities for you and your favorite canine companion.
A great Laramie tradition will continue this week with the 42nd Annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby. All kids 13 and under are invited to try their luck at this free event from 11 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, July 28 at Huck Finn Pond in LaPrele Park.
With kids out of school on summer vacation and weather seemingly getting nicer and nicer, the urge to spend time outside gets stronger everyday. Whether it's spending some time swimming or maybe making a quick escape outside of town, the outside provides a great temptation for many people sitting at work.
The weather outside has still been a little chilly in Laramie over the last few weeks, but it is indeed getting warmer and warmer as Summer approaches. As kids are getting out of school, chances are that they are itching to hit the community pools around Laramie; fortunately they are opening soon according to Laramie's Parks & Recreation department.
Chalk up another holiday to the category of "bizarre." International Migratory Bird Day, observed in the United States on the second Saturday of May, will be in Laramie this Saturday (the second Saturday of the month).
Ok- maybe bizarre isn't the right word, but uncommon seems fair at the very least.
The 28th Annual Laramie Arbor Day Celebration Tree Sale will take place on June 2nd. The day is meant to encourage beautification efforts around Laramie and is a great chance to purchase a tree or shrub at cost.
