Laramie Mayor Points to Public Forums in Interview [VIDEO]
Laramie Mayor Andrea Summerville talked tax renewal, public forums on unpaved streets in the community, The Big Event, and more in her monthly visit on KOWB.
Mayor Summerville started off by talking about the upcoming 5th-cent tax renewal that will be on the general election ballot Nov. 6. She was asked what that is used for and explained where that money goes at this time. Mayor Summerville also mentioned the lodging tax that is up for renewal Nov. 6, as well.
The main part of this month’s conversation centered around discussions of three upcoming public forums to discuss how the community wants to use the money that will be set aside from the 6th-cent tax renewal that was approved by voters in August of this year. The dates are Oct. 11 from 6-to-8 p.m. at Linford School, Oct. 13 from 3-to-5 p.m. at Linford School, and Oct. 23 from 6-to-8 p.m. as part of a Laramie City Council work session at City Hall (4th and Ivinson). Mayor Summerville stressed that they want to hear from citizens, but also warns that no official decisions will be made until after the new city council starts in January 2019.
The end of the visit includes some talk about the University of Wyoming’s Big Event Oct. 13, the Laramie Startup weekend from September, some new building and fire code, and basic city business ahead of the general election.
