Only two squads were in competition this past weekend from Laramie’s Olympic sports. Both were on the road.

Swimming and Diving

There were two days of action in Gillette for the Laramie Lady Plainsmen.

Last Friday, LHS picked up their 20th state qualifier on the season. Sophomore Natalie Larsen made it in the 100 butterfly during the non-scored Gillette pre-invite.

At the Gillette Invite on Saturday, the Lady Plainsmen finished a distant second to the host Lady Camels. Laramie scored 381 points to finish runner-up out of 20 teams in the field. Gillette scored a whopping 576 points.

LHS won one event, as junior Ryleigh Kobbe stayed undefeated on the diving board. They showed their depth, as no one else on the squad finished among the top three.

They are back in the pool and on the diving board Tuesday with a dual against Rawlins. It is senior night, as eight seniors will be honored prior to the dual. It begins at 5 p.m. at the Laramie Community Recreation Center.

Volleyball

The Lady Plainsmen continued their struggles in the 4A East Conference. They lost both their matches on the road last weekend.

Friday in Gillette, the #5 Lady Camels swept Laramie by scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-14.

Saturday in Sheridan, LHS pushed the home-standing Lady Broncs, but fell in five sets. Scores of the match were 15-25, 25-21, 25-15, 13-25 and 15-9.

Laramie is now 7-19 this season and 0-7 in the 4A East.

The Lady Plainsmen will host Cheyenne South Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at Laramie High School. The match is a “Pink Out.” Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

Cross Country

The team had last weekend off from competition.
