Jubilee Days Rodeo Delivers High Level Performances
The PRCA rodeo action during Laramie Jubilee Days was filled with high scores and low times at the Albany County Fairgrounds.
Winners came from as early as slack Friday morning all the way through Sunday afternoon’s performance.
The biggest payout went to a bronc rider Sunday afternoon. Zachariah Phillips of Hobbs, NM saved the best saddle bronc ride of the weekend until late in the action. His 87 points on Summit Pro Rodeo’s Big Wig won the title and $2,938.
A pair of cowboys split the bareback title at Jubilee Days. Conroe, TX cowboy Bill Tutor rode Armed and Dangerous to an 86.5 point effort Saturday night. Jessy Davis, from Payson, UT, matched that score Sunday on Red Bird. Both earned a paycheck of $2,528.
Tremonton, UT cowboy Baylor Roche put a blazing 3.9 second run in steer wrestling up during Friday morning’s slack, and it held up all weekend. Roche pockets $1,794 for his bulldogging victory.
It was a similar story in the tie-down roping. Stillwater, OK cowboy Caddo Lewallen won $1,665 thanks to an 8.3 second run during slack on Friday.
The final slack effort that held up through the weekend was in team roping. Kolton Schmidt from Alberta, Canada and Shay Carroll of La Junta, CO combined for a fast 4.7 second run and held off all other teams for victory. The won $1,986 apiece.
In barrel racing, the top three times were all from slack on Saturday night after the performance. Krum, TX cowgirl Tiany Schuster blazed through the course in 17.07 seconds for a $2,119 payout.
Finally, in bull riding there were only four qualified rides during the three performances. Lane, OK cowboy Newt Brasfield rode Summit Pro Rodeo’s Old Western to 87 points. Brasfield gets a check for $1,793.
Seth Hall from Queen City, AZ won the all-around cowboy title. He won $2,139 in tie-down and team roping. Hall came in second place in tie-down after an 8.4 second effort. He and his partner went 5.4 in team roping for sixth place and another $691.
Total payout for the Laramie Jubilee Days rodeo was $72,205.
