The University of Wyoming Trustees Education Initiative Board will meet for the first time Friday morning.

The all-day meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center's Boyd Conference room. It is open to the public.

The board is comprised of trustees, UW administrators, College of Education representatives, Wyoming K-12 educators, First Lady Carol Mead, and others.

The UW Board of Trustees established the Trustees Education Initiative in Fall 2014 to “elevate the UW College of Education to national pre-eminent status in professional educator preparation, ultimately to improve and enhance K-12 education in Wyoming.”

Currently in its first phase, the Initiative's goal is to develop a strategic plan to renovate all of UW's educator preparation programs. Once approved by the UW Board of Trustees, the plan would be put into action by the College of Education in the Initiative's second phase in 2018-2020.
