CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Environmental Protection Agency is providing $1.4 million in grants to help clean up and redevelop brownfields throughout Wyoming.

The Wyoming Business Council will get $800,000 to set up a revolving fund for cleanup and development of brownfields in communities across the state, including Sheridan County, Green River and Laramie.

The state Department of Environmental Quality will receive $325,000 to assess the former Acme Power Plant outside Sheridan with the goal of improving the area's use as a recreational area.

The city of Douglas will receive $300,000 for an environmental risk assessment in its downtown area, which includes a rail yard, an old oil depot, a burned out building and abandoned gas stations.
