Do You Care If the High School Football State Championships Are in Laramie? – Survey of the Day
In two weeks, War Memorial Stadium will host the five Wyoming High School Football State Championship games for a fourth consecutive year. Ten teams from around Wyoming will converge on the Gem City to see if they can earn bragging rights for their school and if all that hard work culminates in a title.
It was four years ago that the Albany County Tourism Board, University of Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman and other city and university leaders made the push to get the five state title games here. After a pair of initial one-year contracts for 2009 and 2010, two years ago the Wyoming High School Activities Association awarded Laramie the bid for their football state championships on a three-year basis. This year is the second of that three-year deal. The games will be played November 9 and 10 at War Memorial Stadium.
With ten teams and fans, plus other interested parties coming, there's an economic impact that you can look at. Consider the money being spent on hotels, food and other amenities from those who are in town for this specific event. Question is, is it worth it? We want to know what you think.....
