Ask The City – What Can I Do About All the Crows?
Your Question:
I have just purchased a house on Lewis street and have 4 crows that are invading song bird nests and am wondering does the city of Laramie have plan for doing away with the crow population that is coming to Town? If not someone may want to contact Riverton and see what a problem they can be and how they got rid of them. They will destroy our song bird population in s very short amount of time.
The City's Answer:
Crows are migratory birds and regulated by Federal guides. City of Laramie Animal Control can be contacted for advice at telephone number 721-5385. Some potential solutions follow.
There are exclusion methods that can be tried. Some of these can’t be used within the city limits but those that can be include: frightening agents such as lights, bright objects, clapper devices, and other various noisemakers. Beating on tin sheets or barrels may help. Spraying birds as they land with water from a hose has helped in some situations. Hanging mylar tape in roost trees. The placement of model owls in roosting areas may help. A combination of several scare techniques used together works better than a single technique used alone.
