Your Question:

There is a lot of trash that has blow into the fence across Grand Ave from Wal-Mart and it looks really horrible as you come into town from I-80. It gives a bad impression of our city to visitors. Can the City of Laramie clean this up?

The City's Answer:

The Laramie Beautification Committee, Laramie Economic Development Corporation, Laramie Boomerang, the City of Laramie, the Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce and Laramie Main Street partner to sponsor  community clean up days.  This year the designated clean up day is on April 16th beginning at 8:00 am.

Fees at the landfill will be waived except for tire fees, refrigerator fees, and fees for dead animals.  If you would like to help clean up a specific area, call 742-2212 to reserve an area.  You may also come to Washington Park at Shelter #1 at 8:00 am on April 16th and find out which areas still need to be cleaned.  Several organizations have already signed up for specific areas.  If the weather does not allow us to clean up on the April 16th , we plan to clean up on the April 23rd.  If you have any questions, please call Brian Forster,  City of Laramie Code Enforcement Inspector, at telephone721-5285.

A group has signed up to clean the area across from Wal-Mart on April 16th during the Community Cleanup Day.  Brian Forster has also had Community Service people cleaning up the Wal-Mart side of the road, and, if available, those people will also get a head start on the other side of the Grand Avenue.

The City of Laramie appreciates the enthusiasm of our residents shown by the tremendous participation in past annual clean up days and looks forward to another great success story on April 16th.
