Looking for a good way to kick off this Father’s Day weekend? The annual Chugwater Chili Cook-Off is a fantastic way to begin this holiday weekend and is a great family activity.

The 27th Annual Chugwater Chili Cook-Off kicks off this Saturday, June 16th at Chugwater Town Park in Chugwater, WY.  Tickets to the event are only $10 for adults and are sold at the park on the day of the event. Children ages 12 and under are admitted into the cook-off for free.

Event organizers are expecting about 70 cooks to compete in this year’s competition. The cook-off features both red and green chili competitions as well as a salsa competition.  You may also enjoy watching the cooks in the Showmanship Division competing to be judged in theme, costume, booth set-up, action and audience appeal.

Not only will the chili be ranked by judges, but people in attendance of the event are encouraged to vote for their favorite chili to win the People’s Choice Award in both red and green chili categories as well as in the salsa competition. Tasting for the salsa competition begins at 11:30 a.m. and tasting for the chili competition begins at 1 p.m., at which times you can begin voting for your favorite in each category.

The chili cook-off is not the only activity for those in the town of Chugwater this weekend. There is live entertainment featuring bands like SHEL, The Chugwater Band, and Todd Dereemer. In addition to live entertainment, Chugwater will be hosting a car and motorcycle show, an art and quilt show, and the Tour de Chili Bicycle Race.

There are also plenty of children’s activities at the cook-off this year. The cook-off offers many children’s crafts, games and activities. The Chugwater Town Park also has a new playground which kids of all ages are sure to enjoy.

Proceeds from the event go to local non-profit groups, so you can leave with a full belly and the knowledge that you contributed to a good cause. Groups helped through this event include Chugwater Fire and Ambulance, Chugwater Housing and Economic Development, Chugwater Historical Unity Group and the Chugwater Community Center.

If you have been looking for that perfect activity for your Father’s Day weekend, the Chugwater Chili Cook-Off could be the right event for you and your family. Be sure to swing by this weekend for fun, food, entertainment and great family memories.
