Wyoming’s Josiah Hall Says ‘I Was Just Having Fun’ [VIDEO]
Who knew the musical group 'Men Without Hats' would inspire an entire fan base? Yet, their 1982 song "Safety Dance" has become a new theme for Wyoming football.
The Cowboys upset the nationally-ranked Boise State Broncos last Saturday night at War Memorial Stadium. How it occurred and what took place just after the play has put Poke nation in a frenzy.
It was an unusual game-winning play, as the Cowboy took the lead on sack and forced fumble by senior Chase Appleby. The ball rolled out the back of the end-zone, and the result was a safety.
While Appleby played the role of hero, the attention quickly turned to what red-shirt freshman Josiah Hall did. While waiting for a ruling from the referee, Hall put his hands over his head to form the signal for a safety in football. No big deal, right? Wrong. Since that wasn’t it. Hall started to add dancing to the signal, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Hall was kind enough to visit with us about what actually happened, when this normally reserved young man, ended up going viral on the internet.
Wyoming returns to action Saturday, Nov. 5 against Utah State in Laramie. The game will start at 8:15 p.m.
