A man suspected of attacking a Montana Tech student on the Butte campus was captured by Wyoming Troopers after a high speed chase Wednesday morning.

Butte police identified 28-year-old Brandon Curry as a person of interest in an assault of a 19-year-old woman after his vehicle, a dark colored Honda Accord, was identified as he left the campus area. The woman reported a man forced her into a library bathroom Tuesday afternoon, held a knife at her throat and punched her in the face.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol says Curry was pulled over on the summit between Laramie and Cheyenne by a Wyoming Trooper after he was clocked at 100 mph just before 11:00 a.m. Upon handing his driver's license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance to the Trooper, Curry put his vehicle in reverse and intentionally rammed the front of the Troopers patrol car.

After crossing the median, Curry sped off westbound on Interstate 80. The Trooper pursued Curry down the pass towards Laramie as speeds reached 130 mph.

Another Trooper deployed road spikes in front of Curry's Honda, but Curry continued westbound after running over the spikes and proceeded to the 3rd Street off ramp towards Laramie.

As Curry drove around the curve on the off ramp, he lost control of his vehicle. Curry left the roadway where he was slowed down first by snow and dirt and then by a Trooper who rammed the passenger side of Curry's Honda, ending the vehicle chase.

Curry bolted and attempted to flee on foot. Troopers chased him down and tackled him about 75 yards from his vehicle. After being tackled Curry offered no more resistance.

Officials say Troopers did not know Curry was wanted in the state of Montana when the initial traffic stop was made. In Wyoming, Curry has been charged with eluding, reckless driving, felony interference with a peace officer, felony property damage, driving while under the influence and open container.
