If you happen to be a fan of comedy like me, then there will be some great performances over the next few weeks featuring comedians in Laramie. The first is a touring troupe from the Second City Improv Company and the other is Laramie Laughs; more on that coming soon.

The Second City Imporv Company performs a free show Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Arts and Sciences Auditorium. Not only well known for their uproarious comedic performances, the Chicago based Second City Improv Company’s foremost claim to fame has been its role as the training ground for numerous famous alumni, particularly those who graced the Saturday Night Live stage. John Belushi, Mike Myers, Tina Fey and Steve Carell are merely a few of the many successful alums of the company. Anna Rader, of the UW Student Activities Council mentioned:

We have brought Second City for the past few years and they have always been a big hit, not only are they really funny, but their humor resonates really well with college students.

As with othe UW events like this members of the public are free to join in the fun. In addition to turning out so many iconic comedians over the years, since its creation in December of 1959, The Second City has expanded its schools to include Chicago, Los Angeles and Toronto. It is currently the largest training center for improvisation acting and sketch comedy in the world.
This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Council.
