The second edition of this season's Border War in men's basketball was a battle to the end Saturday night. The Colorado State Rams earned a sweep of the regular series with a 59-56 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys at the Arena-Auditorium.

The Rams got two big defensive stops in the final 90 seconds to preserve the victory. Andy Ogide led Colorado State (16-7, 6-3) with 11 points, despite fouling out with 4:58 left in the game. Pierce Hornung had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

A 10-2 run by the Rams gave them a 43-38 lead with 11:25 left. The lead grew to 49-42 before a Desmar Jackson basket and three-point play by Paco Cruz cut it to two, 49-47 Rams. An Ogide hook and Greg Smith leaner pushed the lead back to six at 53-47 with 4:18 remaining. Then a Cruz three brought UW back within 57-54, but the Cowboys couldn't get any closer.

CSU missed the front end of two one-and-one's with less than 10 seconds left, which gave the Pokes a chance, but Cruz's half-court prayer fell short.

The game featured 14 lead changes and seven ties.

Neither team led by more than four points in the first half. The score was tied at 31 at halftime.

Wyoming was led by Cruz with 21 points. Amath M'Baye had 13 points. Jackson scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The Cowboys have lost seven straight.

UW returns to the court Wednesday night at New Mexico. Game time is set for 6 pm. You can listen to the game on KCGY (FM 95.1), as coverage starts at 5:30 pm.
