School begins soon, and the school board is down one member. The Albany County School District is seeking a school board member immediately. Applicants should submit a letter of interest by 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18.

The vacancy is in Area A, as Mary Alice Bruce has resigned. Kim Sorenson, ACSD1 Board Chair, said he is sad to see Bruce go, but lauded her contributions to the district.

"I’m a big fan of Mary Alice Bruce, and I greatly appreciated her curiosity, diligence, intellect, and empathy.  She will be extremely difficult to replace, and made a positive difference for our School District. I personally wish her the best, and am very envious of the quality time she will get to spend with her children and grandchildren."
Sorenson is confident the district will have candidates who will be excellent School Board Trustees, and become important members of the ACSD1 team.

Applicants must live in Area A to be considered. The position is to fill the term which expires Nov. 30, 2024.
