Adams comes to UW after spending the last six season at the University of Colorado. He was the running backs and tight end coach for his first three seasons in Boulder. The past three, he’s coached the O-line and was also the co-offensive coordinator in 2018.

Coach Bohl said in a released statement from the university,

“We are really excited about the addition of Klayton Adams to coach our offensive line. Klayton enjoys a great national reputation for developing dominant offensive linemen. His experience within the Rocky Mountain region, the West Coast, and the Mountain West make him a natural fit for our program.”

Adams also has spent time at San Jose State, Sacramento State, a brief six-month stint at the University of Washington, Western Washington, and his alma mater, Boise State.

Adams said in the same release, "I'm extremely excited for the opportunity to work at the University of Wyoming with Coach Bohl, his staff, and a group of people who have done an unbelievable job to elevate this program. The facilities are first class, the program is first class, and the university is first class. I can't wait to get started working with the players here."

He began his coaching career with the Broncos, while they were in the Western Athletic Conference. Adams was a student assistant in 2005, and a graduate assistant in 2006. That came after his playing career in Boise. Adams lettered at center in 2003 and 2004 for Boise State. They went 24-2 over those two seasons, won the WAC title each of those years, and won two bowl games. Adams was Second Team All-WAC after his senior year in 2004.

Adams replaces Scott Fuchs as the offensive line coach for the Pokes.

Coach Bohl is also seeking a replacement for Mike Bath, who left the Wyoming staff after five seasons for Western Michigan University.
