UW Police Trying to ID Male Accused of Assaulting Juvenile Female
University of Wyoming police are asking for help identifying a suspect in an alleged assault.
According to a department Facebook post, police responded to a complaint of a physical assault in the vicinity of War Memorial Fieldhouse at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9.
"A juvenile female was approached by a male, who is alleged to have assaulted her," the post reads.
UW in a campus announcement late Wednesday morning said the young woman reported she was able to successfully fight off the suspect, who grabbed her by the shoulders, and escape, at which point the suspect also fled in an unknown direction.
Police say the suspect is described as a white male with an athletic/average build and possibly dark-colored eyes and dark hair.
They say he was wearing all black, including a black pullover hoodie, black pants, a black beanie, a black neck gaiter, and light black gloves.
Police are pursuing multiple avenues to gather more information, and are asking anyone who may know anything to call 307-766-5179 or text the keyword UWYO to 847411/TIP411.
As a safety precaution, police recommend students and employees always keep all windows and doors locked.
