The Big Laramie Valley Cancer Benefit will serve dinner and feature a live auction to raise money in the fight against cancer at Harmony School this Saturday, June 2. It is the 40th Anniversary of the event and all proceeds are donated locally to Gifts for Living and Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

University of Wyoming Plans to Cut Budget & Up to 125 Jobs
The University of Wyoming has a plan to reduce their annual budget by $15.7 million. This plan was submitted yesterday to Governor Matt Mead who recently called on all state agencies to prepare for an 8 percent annual budget reductions in light of declines in state revenues and a decrease in natural gas prices. University of Wyoming officials gathered campus-wide feedback in drafting the plan, seeking to protect "...the academic enterprise to the maximum extent possible."

After a one year hiatus, the 7220 Slamfest is back and revamped. The demolition derby has been moved to the end of June and will feature trucks as well as full size and compact cars. The 7220 Slamfest will take place at the Albany County Fairgrounds on June 30 at 4 p.m.

Five summer exhibitions will open at the University of Wyoming Art Museum during a public reception on Friday, May 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. The free event will be the first chance for visitors to check out “Francisco Goya: Los Caprichos,” “Drawn from Life: Northern Plains Indian Portraits by David Humphreys Miller,” “Linda Fleming: Modeling the Universe,” “Journeys along the Sepik River: Tribal Art from Papua New Guinea,” and “Through the Looking Glass: The Portait of the Artist.”

Laramie will get a rare treat this weekend when a partial solar eclipse takes place on Sunday evening. The Laramie Astronomical Society and Space Observers (LASSO) is hosting a local viewing with solar telescopes and special glasses so you can safely watch the eclipse on May 20.
