What is taking the contractors so long to finish the construction on 9th st? There have been times that I have gone by on a weekday and there is no one working on it. It almost seems like they are drawing the time frame out to reap more money on the job. (I dont know that for sure) It seems to me that they would be there everyday to get the job done.
The City's Answer:
The contractor working on 9th Street has been the successful bidder for 4 of the specific purpose tax projects. At times, work is being coordinated between all of the projects leaving the appearance that no work is being done on a specific project. The City is considering contractual alternatives for projects to incentivize early completion and reduce inconveniences to the public. The 9th Street project contractor is within the timeframe of the contract and is not being paid in excess of the contracted amount.
