Your Question:

Why is there so little parking area available in front of Indian Paintbrush School for parents who are picking up or dropping off children? There is only one small area on the north side of Knadler St. that is marked as a pick-up/drop-off zone, and it's not even enough room for all the daycare vans that need to pick up children after school. The remainder of the north side of the street is marked "no parking" and lately, the Laramie PD has been aggressively enforcing this. However, this forces the majority of parents to park on the south side of Knadler St., which means children are having to cross that street during the high-traffic times both before and after school. Wouldn't it be safer for the children to open up the "No Parking" areas on the north side of Knadler St. to become pick-up/drop-off zones?

The City's Response:

The parking around the Indian Paintbrush School is consistent with parking restrictions (signage and painting) as requested by Albany County School District.    It appears pick-up/drop-off zones exist on the south side of the building, on the southwest side of the building and within the parking lot on the northwest side of the building.

The City of Laramie Traffic Commission  has worked with the School District on numerous occasions over the years to adjust parking, speed limits, and pedestrian crossings around Indian Paintbrush School.  Requests for changing parking are typically submitted by the property or facility owner.

The question may be best directed to the Indian Paintbrush School Administration.  They in turn can evaluate their parking needs, and request any changes to the City of Laramie Traffic Commission.
