Two Laramie breweries are heading to Saratoga for the official State of Wyoming Microbrew Competition on August 18th. The Library Sports Grille & Brewery and Altitude Chophouse & Brewery will be among the competitors for the Steinley Cup at the 17th annual competition.

The Library is the defending 'People's Choice' champion, winning the last three years. The defending Steinley Cup champion, Lander Brewing Company, is also returning according to event organizers. This year's competition brew is 'Pilsner' and will be judged by a panel of brewing professionals from Colorado.

"This microbrew festival is unique in that only breweries based in Wyoming are invited," says Stacy Crimmins of the Saratoga/Platte Valley Chamber of Commerce. "It was the first, original competition and brew festival in the state and is known by brewers as the official competition. No one can claim they're the best in the state unless they have carried the Steinley Cup trophy home."

The event is slated to open to the public from 1 PM to 5 PM at Saratoga's Kathy Glode Park. Admission is $20 and includes a 12 ounce mug for tasting and ballots to vote for your favorites. There will be live music and a chili cook-off there as well. Last year's Steinley Cup Microwbrew Festival broke attendance records as well as brewery participation, with all but one in attendance according to Crimmins.
