Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Brian Schroeder says some version of a teacher apprenticeship program like the one Tennessee pioneered may be the answer to the state's teacher shortage.

Schroeder says his department is "working on getting (its) hands on the Tennessee playbook, as well as other related materials they are so willing to share."

"This process is in its infancy stage, and we will move forward judiciously, as we put concrete to our foundational plans," Schroeder said Monday in his Superintendent's Weekly Update.

"Deputy Superintendent Chad Auer has made contact with Representative Jerry Paxton from Riverton, and I will be meeting with Governor Mark Gordon to discuss how best to move this initiative forward," he added.

Schroeder says from there, they will begin conversations with the University of Wyoming, the state's community colleges, the State Board of Education, and other stakeholders.
