Watch The Very First Jubilee Days In 1940 [VIDEO]
The very first Jubilee Days (or Equality Jubilee Days, as it was known then) was a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Wyoming Statehood. It included a parade, a re-enactment of the meeting of the first jury that included female jurors, a dramatization of a murder trial from 1870, fiddler's competitions, and other general merriment.
Below, you can watch a video taken by an anonymous Laramie resident back in 1940 of the very first Laramie Jubilee Days, complete with the parade and a demonstration from local firemen. The Laramie Plains Museum previously owned the film, before donating it to the American Heritage Center, which digitized the film in 2016.
You can find out more information about the 1940 "Laramie Equality Jubilee Days" at the American Heritage Center, where they have a display featuring important moments in the 150 years of Laramie's history.
