The Laramie Fire Department responded to two separate house fires on Thursday, Dec. 6 leaving one family displaced.

The fire department said in a release that the first call came in around 11:25 a.m. on Sanders Drive for a possible chimney fire. The fire was extinguished and the occupants of the home were successfully evacuated with no injuries reported.

A second call came in around 1:55 p.m. reporting a fire in the 900 block of McCue St. LFD extinguished the exterior fire, then entered the building and confirmed there was no interior extension to the fire. All residents were successfully evacuated, but were left displaced. No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross was requested by responding crews for the second fire to assist. They noted in a release that the family displaced – two adults, one child, two dogs and several snakes – was provided lodging and other needs.

A fire investigator from the LFD Life Safety and Fire Prevention office and a Laramie Police Department detective were on scene for the second fire to assist the investigation.

Both fires are still under investigation and the causes are unknown as of Friday morning.
