The Albany County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens not to fall for a phone scam that's making the rounds.

Cheyenne police are warning residents not to fall for an old scam that's making the rounds again.

While the scam is not a new one, the latest version includes some details that make it more believable than some past versions.

The office says they will never request any sort of payment over the phone and will never accept money cards as payment of fines.

The callers are often 'masking" their phone numbers to make it appear that they are calling from a Wyoming number when they are really out of state or even overseas.

A jury duty phone scam is continuing to cause problems for residents of Laramie and Albany County.

Sexton says a number of Laramie residents have reported being contacted over the phone by an individual claiming to be from the Albany County District Court. Sexton says the caller claims residents have missed jury duty and need to pay large fines to avoid trouble.
