Swim Officials Honored for Service [VIDEOS]

Earlier this month, a pair of swimming officials were acknowledged for their time and effort by the Wyoming High School Activities Association and USA Swimming.

At the 2020 Wyoming High School Girls’ Swimming & Diving State Championship, George Mathes Jr. and George Mathes III were presented with special awards.

Mathes Jr. has been an official for 50 years. He received a commemorative award from WHSAA Commissioner Ron Laird for his dedication. Mathes Jr. was recognized during both the Class 4A and 3A finals on Nov. 6 and 7, 2020, in Laramie. He was one of the original coaches of the Laramie Swim Club that debuted back in 1968-69.

Mathes III was honored during the 3A finals on Nov. 7 with the ‘Officials in Excellence Award’ from USA Swimming.
