The 2021 Wyoming High School Boys Swimming & Diving State Championships are on the move thanks to COVID.

Wyoming High School Activities Association Commissioner Ron Laird announced on Thursday that, “due to the setup of Laramie’s swimming and diving pool, where we can keep the spectators separated from the participants on the deck, we are going to move the Boys State Swimming & Diving Championships to Laramie.”

The championships are scheduled for Feb. 18-20. Class 4A will be first with their preliminary day on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. The finals will be on Friday, Feb. 19. Class 3A will have their preliminary day on Friday, Feb. 19, after the 4A finals are done. They will clear the facility and clean before 3A teams can enter the facility for competition. The 3A finals will be on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Fan attendance will be based upon county health orders but could be limited like the girls’ state swim meet was in early November. Fans, coaches, meet personnel, and anyone not competing in an event will also be required to wear a mask. Fans will be socially distanced in the seating area.

The championships were originally slated to be held at the Campbell County Aquatics Center in Gillette.
