According to Margaret Oler of Rocky Mountain Power, this morning at approximately 6:47 a.m., there was a vehicular accident that caused damage to a power pole causing a power outage to 2,959 customers in Laramie. By 7:53 a.m., power was restored to more than 2,800 customers. There are 96 customers still without power, because the damaged pole and power lines still need repairing. Officials have estimated restoration of power to those 96 customers around 12:30 p.m. University buildings affected by the power outage are residence halls, Washakie Dining Center, university apartments between 22nd and 30th streets, and fraternity and sorority houses. Classes, activities and fall graduation ceremonies will proceed as planned.
