‘Marijuana Minister’ Brandon Baker Wants To Be The Next Mayor of Nunn, Colorado
Reverend Brandon Baker isn’t your typical minister. The Cheyenne native preaches the healing powers of pot at Green Faith Ministry just across the state line in Nunn, Colorado.
Now, the "Minister of Marijuana" wants to be the "Marijuana Mayor."
Baker recently revealed his plans to challenge current Mayor Thomas Bender in the next city election. Bender is one of seven trustees for the statutory town of Nunn, which has an estimated population of 444.
Since 2005, Baker's “First Church of Cannabis” has operated as a non-denominational ministry and non-profit charity organization just a few miles across the Wyoming border.
An outspoken advocate for the National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws, Baker has also advised similar ministries in other states who freely use marijuana under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
In addition to regular services and events, Reverend Baker has officiated several “Cannabis Weddings.”
If elected, Baker hopes the town will be "cannabis friendly." However, he is opposed to recreational marijuana shops within the city limits.
