Three seniors from Laramie High School signed their National Letter of Intent in a signing ceremony on Wednesday.

Swimmer Katie McPherson, distance runner Libby Berryhill, and baseball player Ryan Chamberlain will continue their athletic and academic career at the collegiate level. McPherson and Berryhill chose to stay home and sign at the University of Wyoming. Chamberlain is headed to the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.

McPherson was a three-time all-state selection for the Plainsmen. She helped Laramie win four consecutive Class 4A girls’ swimming and diving state championships. McPherson won both sprint freestyles at last weekend’s 4A state swim meet and was on a pair of victorious relays. She won a total of eight state championships in her prep swim career.

Berryhill has been a four-year varsity runner at Laramie High School in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. She earned all-state honors in the 2019 indoor season and helped Laramie win the school’s first-ever girls indoor track team championship that season. Berryhill has run at the state meet in all three sports every year of her prep career, except the spring outdoor season in 2020 that was canceled due to the coronavirus. She runs cross country and distance events in track and field, like the 1600 and 3200 meters.

Chamberlain began his prep career with the Cheyenne Mustangs baseball program. He played for the Laramie Rangers in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. Chamberlain had a batting average of .292 with 34 RBI’s over 51 games played last summer. Chamberlain finished the season with 47 total hits, which included six doubles and a home run. He scored 46 runs, second-most on the team, and drew 28 walks with 25 strikeouts. On the mound, Chamberlain went 2-5 with a 2.97 earned run average over 66 innings pitched, the most for Laramie. He started 13 games and appeared in 16 as a pitcher for the Rangers. Chamberlain allowed 73 total hits with 69 strikeouts and issued only 27 walks.
