The ribbon was cut on the new offices for the Laramie Workforce Center on Friday afternoon. Workforce Center manager Annette Mello says the new space creates a one stop shop to serve the community.

"Here in Laramie this is the first time that we've combined all of the services under the Department of Workforce Services in Laramie under one roof and we also have the capabilities to have the Department of Family Services go in right next to us in the same building." Mello said. "We're able to partner and do a holistic service to a client rather than piecemealing it across the board within the community."

Services for worker's compensation and vocational rehabilitation used to be in separate buildings meaning that many people would have make treks across Laramie in order to get they help available to them. Those days are over according to Mello, who pointed out computers, faxes, and even phones with direct dial to unemployment services that are free to use in the center.

The new building at 3817 Beech Street broke ground in October and staff was able to move in on March 30th. A stop was added to the Gem City Grand Bus route which stops at the center, meaning patrons can utilize free public transportation to get there.
