Laramie Woman Charged With Taking Controlled Substances Into Jail
LARAMIE -- Jamie N. Shelton, a 30-year-old Laramie resident, was arrested this past weekend.
Lieutenant Gwen Smith of the Laramie Police Dept. said on Saturday, July 20, at around 8 p.m., a Laramie Police Officer was dispatched to an automobile accident in the 800 block of Reynolds.
During the course of that investigation, Shelton was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, Reckless Driving, Driving While Under Suspension, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Taking Controlled Substances into a Jail.
Shelton posted a $10,000 signature bond and was released from the Albany County Detention Center.
Taking a Controlled Substance into a Jail is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than three years, a fine of not more than $3,000, or both.
