Laramie Man Charged With Aggravated Burglary

LARAMIE -- On June 19, 2019, Laramie Police Officers received a report of an open door at an apartment in the 1500 block of North 15^th Street. The resident also reported that he had discovered items were missing from the apartment, according to Lt. Gwen Smith of the LPD.

While the Officer was conducting on-going follow up on August 5, he discovered another burglary that had occurred in the 600 block of South Pine.

Smith said as a result of the Officer’s investigations, Andrew J. May, a 27-year-old Laramie resident was arrested and charged with Aggravated Burglary as well as two counts of Wrongful Taking or Disposing of Property, Theft, and False Statement to a Pawn Broker. Bond has not yet been set in this matter and May remains incarcerated at the Albany County Detention Center.

Aggravated Burglary is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not less than five years nor more than 25 years, a fine of not more than $50,000, or both.

The remaining charges are misdemeanors.

At this time, these charges are merely accusations and May is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
