The community of Laramie has an opportunity to apply for a $25,000 grant through the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program.

This is the fourth year of that State Farm is asking individuals to submit causes that would make their community safer, stronger and better-educated.

State Farm Media Relations Specialist Angela Thorpe was a guest of "Laramie Live on KOWB." She explained the what the program is, the important dates and details, plus gave us some examples of those who have benefited in the past.

This program is designed for neighbors to help neighbors.

After the maximum number of causes have been submitted, they are then narrowed to the final 200. A public voting period follows, and the 40 causes with the most votes are awarded the $25,000 grant.

Anyone or any organization is encouraged to submit their cause. Only the first 4,000 causes are considered. The deadline to apply is when 4,000 submissions have been made or March 29, whichever comes first.

To apply you must submit the cause through the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook page.
