Joel Senior has announced his candidacy for Sheriff of Albany County in 2022.

This was done in front of a large crowd of supporters at the Albany County Fairgrounds on Saturday, January 15.

During this announcement, Senior spoke about his experience in law enforcement at the announcement, which began with being hired by Laramie Police Department in 2001, where for 19 years he served first as a patrol officer, then school resource officer, child abuse investigations instructor, firearms instructor, field training officer, and special response team member and later as team leader of that team.

During his time in law enforcement, he was awarded the VFW Post 14 District 6 Lawman of the Year and Department of Criminal Investigations Internet Crimes Against Children Commendation for the protection of children. He successfully investigated and assisted in the prosecution of a child sex abuse case resulting in a Wyoming Supreme Court decision on behalf of juvenile victims.
