Jamin Johnson Resigns from Albany County School Board
Albany County School District #1 Trustee Jamin Johnson has resigned, effective January 1, due to moving out of state. Johnson shared his decision in a letter to the Board of Trustees, which stated:
“My family has been given the opportunity for new and exciting experiences outside of the State of Wyoming, and we have decided to move to pursue these opportunities. Laramie and Albany County have been my home the entirety of my life and will always remain my home at heart.”
Johnson has spent the last three years representing Area A, which refers to the Laramie city limits, excluding Cottonwood Estates and Roach Addition.
According to state statute 21-3-108, a vacancy occurring for any cause upon the Board of Trustees of any school district shall be filed within thirty days by the action of the remaining members of the board. A person chosen to fill a vacancy shall serve until the next election of school district trustees. An election shall then be held to fill the unexpired term.
A search to replace Johnson will begin immediately by the ACSD#1 Board of Trustees. Anyone who resides in Area A, as outlined above, and is interested in applying for the open position can send a Letter of Interest to the board via email at email@example.com. The deadline for letters of interest is 5 p.m. on Friday, January 14. Interviews will be held during the week of January 17-21.
The next scheduled board meeting is a Work Session on Wednesday, January 5 at 6 pm in the Board Room at the district’s Central Office.
