Cheyenne Woman Hit With Felony After Allegedly Overdosing Around Kids
A 36-year-old Cheyenne woman has been charged with felony child endangerment after reportedly overdosing on fentanyl.
Police say they were called to Amanda Lynn Piercy's home at 3353 Alexander Ave. shortly before 2:00 last Thursday morning, Sept. 7, regarding an unresponsive female.
When police arrived, they found two small children under the age of 18 inside the home and were guided downstairs, where Cheyenne Fire Rescue and American Medical Response were treating Piercy.
Police say AMR administered two 4mg doses of Narcan and Piercy regained consciousness and began talking.
Police say they saw a piece of tinfoil with burnt residue and approximately half a blue pill lying near Piercy and she told them that she took "a couple hits" from a fentanyl pill before losing consciousness.
When asked where the additional fentanyl pills were located, Piercy reportedly told police they were in her pocket and handed them seven blue pills similar to the one she had overdosed on.
Piercy was subsequently arrested and charged with having a child where methamphetamine or fentanyl is present and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance in pill form.
She's currently being held in the Laramie County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond awaiting a Sept. 15 preliminary hearing.
